Stop smoking, quit smoking, smoking cessation
|
It’s called a variety of things but the idea is the same. For your health and for the health of those around you stopping smoking can be the critical factor.
We’ve found that people smoke because unconsciously smoking has become linked to some important or traumatic event. Smoking represents freedom to some and rebellion to others. Perhaps it helps you relax or take a break. Others smoke when out with friends and socializing. You may be surprised to know that your addiction is likely to be tied to whatever was going on for you when your first smoked, eg; you smoked at age 16 to fit in with friends and now you smoke every time you are with friends. Your subconscious has tagged smoking to socially fitting in. This is just one example. Together, we find the reasons you smoke, Smoking is an addiction and most addictions are connected to anxiety. Uncovering the seat of any underlining anxiety (present or past) and finding ways to manage it that doesn’t necessitate your continuing habit of smoking. I have found that when these issues are addressed and more healthy and conscious means are found to satisfy them, the desire to smoke drops dramatically. Exploring “smoking triggers” is another facet of our approach. Do you smoke after you eat, when you’re on the phone, before bed, while you’re driving? |
How do you know when its time to smoke?
Together we find all the examples of when you know “it’s time to smoke”. Eliminating those triggers makes you consciously responsible for your smoking and takes you out of the “I just found myself with a cigarette in my hand” category and into the category of conscious choice. To smoke is a choice. Your choice.
